Hey There
Lets get ready for your session!

Session Prep
WARDROBE:

-
3 outfits is the magic number. This provides for plenty of looks but without feeling like you are spending the entire session changing. With each wardrobe change the hair and makeup do start to wear
-
wear your favorite outfit first as this is when hair and makeup are at their best
-
I want you to wear what you love and feel comfortable in! I want you to look like YOU and your wardrobe should reflect your personality and also go with the location you have chosen.
-
as far as WHAT...anything goes. I love shorts and jeans, dresses and skirts, layers are always a hit and so are accessories like hats
-
make sure you have proper undergarments, I always recommend nude bras. We do not want underwear lines or bra straps!
-
iron your clothes and bring them on a hanger
-
colors: while this is somewhat personal I will say my number one suggestion is wear a color that compliments your skin tone. This is almost never going to be black, white, or gray although these colors can work well in certain locations. NO neon. That is one rule I would suggest not breaking.
-
patterns: patterns are OK despite the bad rap that they get. I do not suggest super small repeating patterns such as small stripes or small gingham and nothing overly busy. Florals are great.
-
feel free to send me your choices and I am happy to weigh in and provide suggestions

FINGERNAILS & TOENAILS:

-
please have clean and manicured nails. I do not suggest anything to trendy or neon. We want them to blend but not stand out. Your face is the star of the show!
-
No chipped polish. No polish at all is better than chipped.

A WEEK BEFORE YOUR SESSION:

-
hydrate!!! You would be surprised what a difference this makes.
-
try on your wardrobe options and do some sitting on the ground, bending etc to make sure they work, you like them, they fit, and that you have proper undergarments meaning you cannot see them through your clothing and there are not noticeable lines etc..
-
Get your jewelry options together. I suggest separating jewelry into baggies based on outfits and hanging them with the outfit they go with.
-
double check that you have shoes that you like for each outfit.

HAIR, MAKEUP, TANNING:

-
I do not ever recommend a spray tan within 3-4 days of your photo session. Orange fingers and toes are real and I cannot edit these out very easily or naturally
-
I suggest hair and makeup to be done professionally and I highly recommend my artist but if you use your own please make sure that they know this is a natural light photo session.
-
Please wear lipstick or lip gloss even if you normally do not. Lips tend to look faded out and dry in natural light.
-
Please make sure your foundation is a match for your skin and do not load it on or have streaks or lines
-
I suggest just a bit heavier than your everyday look for natural light. If you do not normally wear any makeup, I suggest lightly applying some anyway. If you use my makeup artist she is amazing at creating a natural look that is camera and natural light ready.
-
If you are wanting to try anything new please do not wait until the day of your session. Test it out a couple of times and even have somebody grab some pictures in natural light to see what you think. I do not suggest new hair styles, you want to look like yourself.
